Edmund Freeman Ellis was born in Sandwich about 1661 and died there before 20 Jun 1728. He took the Oath of Fidelity in Sandwich in 1681 along with his brothers Manoah, Matthias and Mordecai. Apparently he accompanied his mother, the widow Elizabeth (Freeman) Ellis, to Sippican (Rochester) or settled there soon after. It is thought that she deeded him land there about the time of his marriage as he owned property there before 1692. He married Mercy (probably Winslow) about 1686. Since four of his children removed to Nantucket it is possible that his wife's family lived there. His will was dated 4 August 1710 and proved 20 June 1728.
