Manoah 5 Ellis in his youth was know as "Capt. Manoah Ellis of Cape Cod."
This family removed to western Massachusetts in 1785, living in Lee and Becket. Between 1810 and 1820 the family moved to Pierpont, Ashtabula County, Ohio and settled on a large estate which Manoah purchased from Connecticut in what was known as the Connecticut or Western Reserve. Their children were born in Harwich, Lee and Becket.
