OBITUARY --- THEODORE GIDDINGS DIES AT AGE OF 92.
Theodore M. Giddings, a resident of Michigan for 80 years, who had lived in Royal Oak for 16 years, died yesterday at the age of 92, in the residence of his only living child, Mrs. Francs A. Ellis, 606 Lawson avenue. Mr. Giddings was born in Warsaw, NY, Aug. 16, 1841, the son of John and Mindwell Giddings, and came to Michigan when a young man. He was married Sept. 9, 1870, in the little town of Rochester to Mary A. Sutton, who is now 83 years of age, and comes from one of the earliest families of Michigan. Their daughter was born in New Haven. Mr. Giddings had been in good health until two weeks ago. He had worked as a painter and decorator, contractor and auctioneer.
On Sept. 9, 1933, Mr. and Mrs. Giddings celebrated their sixty-third wedding anniversary with a reception in the home of their daughter. Twice Mr. Giddings enlisted for service in the Civil war, but was rejected because of poor health. The second time he was in camp at Pontiac for a week before he was rejected. Surviving is his Widow, Mary A. and his daughter Mrs. Ellis; five grandchildren, Mrs. Murry Wilson, Mrs. Frank Barron of Chicago, Lillian, Virginia and Edward Dale Ellis at home. He was the uncle of Mrs. Frank Daniels of Detroit and John Giddings of Evart. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 A.M., in the William Sullivan & Son chapel, 109 East Third street, with the Rev. Robert S. Steen of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be in Prestonville cemetery.
