Jacob 3 Ellis was born about 1690. (a date of birth 1698 also given in Gwendolyn Patton Inman genealogy).
Jacob is believed to be the Jacob ELLIS of Harwich who married Elizabeth FOSTER 20 August 1724 in Pembroke, Massachusetts. She appears to be the daughter of Josiah and Sarah FOSTER, both of Pembroke. She was born Nov.1698 in Pembroke and baptized there 19 Jan 1713. In 1726 Jacob ELLIS is listed as a householder in the Second School District, east of the Sauquatuckett River (also called Stoney Brook) and somewhat removed from the Sixth District where the other Ellis families lived. Some of his family moved to Dutchess County, New York and stayed there.
Others moved to Pennsylvania, on to South Carolina, migrating then to Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois and out to Iowa.
They kept in touch with their New York relatives, however, as the grandson of Simeon ELLIS, son of Jacob Ellis, Sr.,moved to New York and died there. Two of his nieces, daughters of Levi ELLIS, also went to New York to live.

Also on page 164 is found the following: Thomas Elles son of Jacob and Elezebeth Elles his wife was born in January the 17 day 1725/26. Simon Elles son to Jacob and Elezebeth Elles was born in November 11, 1727. Sarah Elles daughter to Jacob and Elizabeth Elles was born in April the 15 day 1730. Tabitha Elles daughter to Jacob and Elezbeth Elles was born in February the 29 day 1731/32. Elezebeth Elles daughter to Jacob and Elezabeth Elles was born the 23 day 1734. Jacob Elles son to Jacob and Elezebeth Elles was born in August the 25 day 1737. Note spelling as Elles and not Ellis.
