Misc. Notes
Jonathan Ellis, son of John Ellis/Sarah Holmes, b. 01May1717, Barnstable, Sandwich, MA., I.G.I., pg. 12063.

Jonathan Ellis took his A.B. Degree at Harvard with the Class of 1737. He was chosen by the Congregation of the Monument Ponds Church and was ordained 8 Nov. 1738, the day the church was formed into a new parish. He was caught up in the Great Awakening, a controversial theological development. His congregation was poor and his salary insufficient for his needs. He moved to Little Comption, R.I. about 1749 where that church declined under his preaching having only 26 new members in 36 years. His will was proved 4 Oct 1785. He died testate, in Little Compton, Rhode Island.
