Mary Ann Crawford came to America in 1846 with her sister, Sara Belle Crawford, who became the wife of Gideon Bowerman Ellsworth, arriving in Auburn, New York from Tyrone County, Ireland. In looking up Sara Belle Crawford's husband see spelling as follows, Gideon Bowerman Elsworth.

Ida Mae Clapshaw, granddaughter of Samuel Nathaniel Ellsworth and Mary Ann Crawford has had a paper which states the following about her grandparents:

"Grandma Ellsworth passed away November 7, 1912. She was born in Tyrone County, Ireland, July 12, 1830. Her maiden name was Mary Ann Crawford. She and her sister, Sara Belle Crawford came to America by their selves in 1846 going to Auburn, New York when Grandma was 16 years old. On October 13, 1857, she was married to S. N. Ellsworth at St. Clair, Michigan, where she went in 1857."

Mary Ann Crawford died November 7, 1912 at 10:00 P.M. in Willapa, Pacific Co., Washington of Myocarditis and was buried in Fernhill Cemetery, Menlo, Washington on November 9, 1912. She died in a rooming house owned by her daughter, Nettie. Her death certificate record No. 102, File No. 9446, Washington State Board of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics, Olympia, Washington lists her parents names as John Crawford and Mary Hamilton, both born in Scotland. Information on her death certificate, son J. E. Ellsworth, Willapa, Washington. Her age at death 82 years, 3 months, 26 days. This would substantiate a birth date of July 12, 1830. This date does not agree with her age at the time of her marriage but agrees with the information sent by Ida Mae Clapshaw. Donna Ellsworth Ward feels that this date of July 12, 1830 would seem the most plausible of all the birth dates given for her.
