Misc. Notes
Mordecai Ellis's mother took him to Plymouth when she married (2) Nathaniel Morton, on 28 April 1720. When she married (3) Joseph Swift, 4 Mar 1730-31 they returned to Sandwich. He was then apprenticed to his trade of Cordwainer. A Cordwainer is a person who makes shoes from cordovan leather. A shoemaker or cobbler. He was a resident of Scituate but not a land owner at the time of his marriage in 1740. He acquired land in Hanover in 1749 where he followed his cordwainer trade, adding to his real estate possessions through the years. His will was date 22 June 1803 and proved 3 Sept 1810 in Hanover.
