Misc. Notes
Samuel Ellis died intestate in Plymouth 21 Nov 1776. As a young unmarried man he apparently had no taste for farming as deeds suggest that he used the capital derived from the sale of his farm to buy a boat or a share in some shipping enterprise. He served in Colonel Moulton's 3rd Massachusetts Regiment at Cape Breton Island in 1745. Samuel Ellis is referred to in deeds as yeoman, mariner, and seafaring man. He may have died insolvent as well as intestate as there is no record that he gave any property at all to his children.
