Item 1.Stephen Ellis was a Revolutionary War soldier serving as a private in Capt. John
Brandford's Company, Col. Theophilus Cotton's Regiment, April 1775; as a sergeant
in Capt. James Harlow's Company, Col. Thomas Lothrop's Regiment, Mar 1777; and
Capt. Thomas Sampson's Company, Col. Theophilus Cotton's Regiment, Sep-Oct 1777.
In deeds and transactions he is called "gentleman."
Item 2.His will was dated 19 September 1823 and proved 6 April 1824.
Item 3.The marriage of Stephen Ellis and Susanna Tompson, not Thompson, was on 14 Nov.
1771as indicated in Plymouth County, Book II via ECN Summer 1997.
Item 4.The Vital Records of Plympton, Massachusetts, re: ECN Summer 1995, pg. 46, indicate
the following. Charles Leonard Ellis b 12 Oct 1833, s/o Josiah Thompson (s/o Lt. Stephen)
Ellis and Abigail (d/o Lt. Isaac Wright). We have an Abigail instead of Susannah.
