PERSPECTIVE:
In the book The Roots and Genealogy of Israel B. Ellsworth and Mary Ann Gage, by Donna Ellsworth Ward, page 100, reference is made to the fact that one relative met him [Lincon Aaron Ellsworth] when "he was raising money for another polar expedition." The book Beyond Horizons is supposed to be his autobiography. To put this in proper perspective the following is taken from The World Book Encyclopedia:

"ELLSWORTH, Lincoln (1880-1951), was an American Civil Engineer and explorer who participated in many scientific and polar expeditions. He worked as a mining engineer in Alaska and served as a field assistant with the united States Biological Survey. In 1924, he led a geological survey of the Andres Mountains. With Roland Amundsen, he made the first aerial crossing of the vast North Polar Basin.

Ellsworth was co-leader in 1926 of the Amundsen-Ellsworth-Nobile Transpolar Flight across the North Pole. He participated in the Graf Zeppelin dirigible flight to the Arctic in 1931. In 1935 and 1939, he made flights across Antarctica. Each time he claimed large new territories for the United States. Ellsworth was born in Chicago, and studied at Columbia and Yale Universities. His books include Search (1932) and Beyond Horizons (1938)."

THIS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS DOCUMENTATION THAT THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT MEN BORN AND DYING AT DIFFERENT TIMES.
Large stone marker indicates LINCOLN ELLSWORTH FAMILY. Cemetery records indicate the following: Lincoln Ellsworth, Interned, 9-28-40; Mars Anna Ellsworth, interned, 10-6-1894; Mrs L. [Elizabeth] Ellsworth, interned 12-20-47.
