Henry Keyes married 1st on October 2, 1838 Sarah P. Pierce, whose date and place of birth has not been established. She is reported as having dies on December 8, 1853 and probably occurred in either Vershire or Newbury, Orange County, Vermont.

He married 2nd May 6, 1856 Emma F. Pierce who died September 1916. Henry Keyes was a prominent business man of Newbury, Vermont. President of the Connecticut and Passumpsic River Railroad also of the Atkinson, Topeka and Santa Fee Railroad. He died September 24, 1876. This family maintained a residence in Boston, Massachusetts during the winter and in Newbury, Vermont during the summer.

Sarah P. Pierce and Emma F. Pierce are sisters.

Henry Keyes (January 3, 1810 - 1870) was a prominent politician and railroad man from Vermont. He was a state senator and was a candidate for governor of Vermont three times. Hew also served as president of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

In 1825 he moved to Newbury, Vermont, where he preferred to stay as much as possible. In 1860, Keyes was the chairman of the Vermont delegation from the Democratic National Convention.

Keyes worked on the revitalization of the Connecticut and Passumpsic Rivers Railroad. He advanced to the presidency of the Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway on February 17, 1869. He served in this role until September 24, 1870, when he fell ill with a fever by which he died in ten days.

His son, Henry W. Keyes (1861-1938), also participated in New England's politics, becoming Governor of New Hampshire himself in 1917."
