Early activity and Employment.
Following Merwin Earl Wilson’s birth the family moved to Long Island, New York when he was at a young age. The Wilson family later came back to Michigan when he was about 17 years of age. When he arrived he obtained employment for a short time at the Studebaker Automobile Company of Detroit, Michigan. He later received work as a bookkeeper in the First State Bank of Royal Oak, where he later advanced to the position of Teller. He worked there for about five years until the nation wide closing of the banks in 1931. He was out of work for a short time followed by employment by the Continental Baking Company of Detroit.as a bookkeeper.
About the middle of August 1935, Merwin E. Wilson left the Continental Baking Co., to go to Owosso, Michigan, where he entered the employment of the Renown Stove Works, as the payroll Clerk. Mrs Wilson followed him on September 1st as soon as a house was located. He also acted as the Purchasing Agent of this firm.

The Daily Tribune, Friday, July 19, 1985, Royal Oak, Michigan. Merwin E. Wilson, 78, California, formerly of Royal Oak, died Thursday in Flagship Health Care Center, Newport Beach, California. He was born Jan. 31, 1907, in Detroit. Mr. Wilson worked as a bookkeeper and head cashier at the old First State Bank of Royal Oak. He also was employed by Continental Baking Co., Detroit, and Renown Stove Works, Owosso. He worked recently for Kyle Equipment Co., LaPuente, California. Surviving are his wife, Ethel Frances (Ellis); a brother Walter H. Wilson, Jr., Whittier, Calif.; daughters, Mrs Gerald J. (Marilyn) Kohler, Costa Mesa, and Mrs. Raymond E. (Kathryn) Pippin, Brigham City, Utah; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
