Michigan, is the son of Walter Edgar Ridout and May Eveline Bowes Elliot, entered the
Army in April 1943, and has been overseas since November 1944.
"Ridout, PFC, Rex E. age 20, reconnaissance unit, missing Dec. 16, Germany; son of
Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Ridout, and husband of Mrs. Eileen Ridout, all of 15315 Parkside;
previously reported missing.
"Mrs. Eileen Ridout, 15315 Parkside, has been notified that her husband, Rex E., 20
reported missing in action on Dec. 20 is now a prisoner in Germany". He was taken
prisoner of war at the Battle of the Bulge and liberated by General Patton's 3rd. Army.
REX IS HOME AGAIN!
"After months of waiting, PFC, Rex Ridout has returned home. He enlisted in April 1943 and left for overseas in November 1944. Rex is in the 106th Inf. Reconnaissance and was taken prisoner in the Von Ronstedt's break-through in the bulge on December 16, 1944. Mrs. Ridout, better known to most of us as Eileen, works as a bookkeeper in the Credit Department, Oakman. She says that Rex has been liberated by the American Forces at Bad Orb. May this reunion be their happiest!"
On Rex's return to the USA he was made a corporal and discharged from Service as such.
Following his divorce of 12 December 1964 Rex married a Ruth //?. There were no children
of his 2nd marriage.
