In a letter dated September 6, 1878, Elmer Marshall Ellis's mother Lois Shelton [Lois Marsh Ellis] tells of Elmer being baptized on June 19, 1878, Episcopal Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended a Communion Service following his baptism. She was also present when he passed away on September 6, 1878, 9:00 am, Episcopal Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Funeral on next day September 7, 1878, 9:00 am, Episcopal Church.
Elmer Marshall Ellis, a butcher by trade, was originally buried in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The cemetery being later condemned. Thus, arrangements were made by his brother-in-law, Albert Henry Gridley, to bring Elmer's remains to the Lake Eunice Township Cemetery, Becker County, Minnesota and re-burial next to his father John Gilmore Ellis.
Elmer Marshall Ellis is not know to have ever married.
