This record states Gideon Ellis born abt. 1758, Harwich, Barnstable, Ma.

"Ellis Cemetery, Town of Aurelius - Cayuga County, NY, Cemetery #13.
This cemetery is located on the north sie of West Genesee Street about 100 yrds west of Blanchard Road. The cemetery is not visible from Genesee St. It is located about 300 feet north of Genesee Street in a small patch of woods along the east border of a cleared field. The headstone for Gideon Ellis was still partly legible on November 6, 1999, but was broken in half lengthwise and lying on the ground. The remains of the top portion of the headstone for his wife "Zuillah". The small broken remains of other stones were worn and illegible on November 6, 1999.
Information on the headstones in this small family cemetery were not contained within the original version 1960s DAR Cayuga County Cemetery Inventory. A hand written note incorrectly cited the burial of Gideon & Zillah Ellis as possibley being in Fosterville Cemetery. Subsequent additions to this Cemetery Inventory found in County Historian's Office and within their 'Family Genealogy Files' provide the following information."

There are some differences showing such as we have a Gideon Ellis, born 15 Apr 1781, in New York, d. 27 May 1830, Aurelius, Cayuga, N.Y. We do not have a Samuel Ellis but there is one using the same identical dates as a Gideon Ellis.

There is another Gideon Ellis, born 27 Dec 1785, in N.Y., died 27 Jan 1813, Aurelius, Cayuga, N.Y. This same Gideon Ellis comes up with a date of death as 7 Jan 1813.

Then there is Darius L. Ellis, b. 11 May 1804, N.Y., d. 3 June 1804, N.Y., that indicates date of death as 3 Jan 1804.
