Samuel Ellis was born about 1696, baptized in the Sandwich church 30 May 1697 and died between 27 June 1745 and 6 Mar 1745/46. He married Mercy Gibbs of Plymouth, daughter of John and Esther (Swift) Gibbs, about 1717. She was born 21 Jan 1695/96 and died after 27 Jun1745. She was the sister of Joanna and Hannah Gibbs who married Samuel's brothers William and Benjamin. All the children of Samuel and Mercy Ellis were recorded in Plymouth where the first five were baptized. [The Register, Jan 1966, pp. 34-36 and Col. Harry H. Ellis family genealogy, p. 13].

Vital Records of Sandwich, Massachusetts to 1885, Volume I, Page 117 is found the following: Birth of two daughters Mary and Esther Ellis.
