John Ellis was probably born in Plymouth (Wareham) soon after his father moved there from Sandwich, although he was baptized with his two older siblings in the Sandwich Church. He was thirteen years old when the family moved to Hebron, Connecticut. Their children are recorded in the Hebron Vital Records. John Ellis was a sergeant in Capt. Dewey's Company, Col. Johnson's Regiment of Connecticut. Militia during the American Revolutionary War.
