Item 1.Philip 5 Ellis was a Revolutionary War soldier serving as a Sergeant in Capt. Ward Swift's
company, Col. Freeman's regiment. He is listed in the 1790 census as the head of a Sandwich family of one male over 16, three under 16 and seven females. In 1787 Capt. Silas and Anna (Perry) Clements visited Sandwich and when they returned to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia they took Joseph 6 Ellis with them. In 1792 Philip and his entire family migrated to Yarmouth. Their children are recorded in Sandwich.

since there is another Eleanor Ellis, born 14 May 1774.
