Item 2.Sally A. Morello <sallysam@@pacbell.net> indicates: "Lucy & Charles went to Denver in
about 1881 via covered wagon. They settled at Cherry Creek. [unable to locate a Cherry
Creek on Colorado map as of 17 July 2003]. Lucy got typhgoid fever (so the family story
goes) and Charles deserted her to go off to the fold fields in California, leaving poor Myrtle
(a little girl) to care for Lucy. I'm not sure how ture the story is, but it is colorful.. Charles
did go to California and returned to Denver when he was in ill health around 1900."
"Myrtle was married and mother by then and he lived with her and her family for a couple of
years -- Myrtle writes a letter saying that he was so mean that he wouldn't allow her to kiss
her husband or her baby in front of hi8m! I don't know what happened to him after that."
"Lucy apparently divorced Charles and possibly married a man named Palmer. She is in the
Denver City Directories throught the late 1800's but then disappears. We have a letter from a
'Grandma Palmer' to my grandmother 'Lucy's grandaughter' around 1913 from Salt Lake City,
Utah -- so think she relocated there -- but haven't been able to confirm with records."
