Mordecai 5 Ellis published his intention of marriage to Lydia Swift 9 November 1787, both called "of Plymouth." The marriage 14 December 1787 also notes "both of Plymouth." The 1790 census shows no Mordecai Ellis of Plymouth but a Mordecai Ellis is listed as the head of a Sandwich family of one male over 16, one under 16 and one female.

Mordecai Ellis and wife Lydia Swift are reported as having moved to Winslow, Maine in 1799.
