In the year 1825 Joseph and Daniel Miller, came to Michigan, from Genesee Co., New York, where they settled in Macomb County, Daniel being 27 years of age.

From the Macomb County History, page 685 and 686 is the following: "Daniel Miller was born February 18, 1798, at Brookfield, Madison Co., NY He was left motherless when a child, and at the age of eight years, was sent to Sherburne, Chenango County, New York. October 16, he went to Covington, Genesee Co., NY and remained until the age of 23. He had to depend upon himself, and worked his own way in the world, which left him little time and opportunity for obtaining an education. In 1819 he married Miss Lucinda Hurlbut, a native of Vermont, and in 1822 located in the township of Washington. He is the oldest married man who came to the county. At that time, there was but one house in Romeo. After spending ten years on a farm in Washington, he bought one of nearly two hundred acres in Macomb, where he resided about thirty years. His wife died in 1842, leaving four children. Eviline Miller (now Mrs D. Cowles); William Miller (Married to Lorinda Austin); Marion M. Miller (now Mrs N. R. Sutton); & Nelson M. Miller (Married Caroline Dixon). Residing at Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Mr. Miller was married in 1842, to Miss Hannah Wheeler. He moved to Romeo in 1867, and in 1869 bought his present residence on Benjamin Street. His wife died in 1873. He was a third time married, in 1873, to Mrs. Joanna Smith, daughter of Jacob Beekman. Mr. Miller was a Democrat about thirty years of his life, but later became a Republican. He has been a member of the Methodist Church sixty-four years. Mrs. Miller is a member of the same church. Mr. Miller has experienced in the vicissitudes of pioneer life, and observed the participated in the advancement of his portion of the country to its present, creditable and prosperous state. He is a zealous temperance advocate; was a soldier of the war of 1812; enlisted in 1814, just before it closed, for which service he received a pension under Act of March 9, 1878. His religion is of a type that will and has endured the test of strife"

Cattle Marking: Daniel Millers mark was simply a slit in the left ear.
In the Davis settlement were Dan Kniffin, Lester Giddings, Calvin David, Daniel Miller and

Daniel Miller and Charles Van Horn held the office of Treasurer, in Macomb Township, for a
number of years.
Daniel Kniffin, Calvin David, Daniel Miller, and Lester Giddings started the first Post Office in
Macomb Village.
Daniel Miller located in Washington Township, Macomb Co., in 1822 while the state was still a
territory the territory was admitted as a state 15 years later in 1837.
Daniel Miller would have been about age 16 when enlisting as as soldier in the war of 1812.

Hemmingway of Utica, County of Macomb, on October 13, 1942, by Jonathan Blanchard, Minister of the Gospel.

"Daniel Miller was born in Madison Co., New York in 1798. He settled in Washington Twp.,
Macomb Co., in 1822 where he lived for 10 years. He then moved to Macomb Twp. where he lived for 30 years and finally removed to Romeo in 1867 until his death in 1889."
