Item 1.Malachi 5 Ellis was a Revolutionary War soldier. He enlisted as a sergeant 1 July 1775;
served 6 months, 16 days in Capt. Joshua Tobey's company, then 1 month in Capt. Micah
Hamlen's company, Col. Thomas Marshall's regiment. Commissioned lieutenant 22 August
1776. Lt. in Capt. Hamlen's company, Col. Marshall's regiment from 14 May through
November 1776. Lt. in Capt. Job Crocker's company, Col. Nathan Sparhawk's regiment from
24 June 1777 to 12 December 1777 and in Capt. Hamlen's company, Col. Jonathan Reed's regiment from 9 May 1778 to 1 June 1778. Lt. in Capt. Matthias Tobey's company, Lt. Col. Hallet's regiment from 14 July to 31 October 1780.
Item 2.Malachi died intestate and his son, Malachi Ellis, was acting as administrator, 25 July 1818, when the deceased was called "Malachi Ellis, cordwainer, late of Rochester, deceased, intestate."
