Misc. Notes
Thomas Ellis was a private in a Massachusetts unit furing the Revolutionary War. Between 1782 and 1788 they sold their Massachusetts land and migrated to Vermont where they apparently bought a farm near Woodstock. Some of their sons and nephews took part in building a fort near Barnard during the Revolutionary War. In the 1790 census, actually taken in Sep 1791, Thomas is listed as the head of a Woodstock household of two males over 16, one under 16 and one female. Nearby were his sons Thomas, William and Samuel. Sons Southworth and Joshua probably still lived at home. Also in the vicinity were his brother Charles, the latter's son Charles, as well as John and Ephraim, sons of his eldest brother, John Ellis. Thomas and Ruth are buried in adjacent graves in Shaw Cemetery, Woodstock, Vermont.
