Sawyer Ellis was a Revolutionary War soldier serving as a private in a Connecticut unit.
Sawyer Ellis followed the occupation of farming all his life, residing on the farm occupied by the late Deacon Benjamin S. Ellis. There he died, in the house now standing, on Sept. 4, 1830, just four hours before his son, both dying of typhoid fever, which was then epidemic. During this period no less than six deaths occurred in that house inside of two months. Sawyer Ellis marrie Abigail Hutchinson, born on 21 August 1761, who died Sept. 8, 1830, and they had one child. Edward Sayyer, born 6 October 1781.
