Item 3.From Robert Ellis Dunn e-mail of December 5, 2003 the following:
"About 1836, Hiram Barnabas Ellis made his way from Fair Haven, Vermont to Illinois
and married Olivia Ladd. he homesteaded land just north of Greenfeld, in Green County,
Illinois."
Item 4.From Robert Ellis Dunn, Descendants of John Ellis Sr. "The 1850 Census for Greene
County, IL, lists Hiram B. Ellis, age 34, a farmer from Vermont. He is married to Olivia
Ladd, age 26, from Illinois. They have a 2 year old daughter Selina."
"The 1860 Census for Greene County, IL., lists Hiram B. Ellis, age 45 from Vermont, with
a 35 year old wife, Fedelia, and two children Lelesia, age 2. Hiram's first wife, Olivia may
have died or moved from the home. Their daughter, Selina is not listed in the home. A
marriage license is on file for Hiram and Fidelia, married April 16, 1856. The 13 year old
Lelesia must have been from a previous marriage for Fedelia."
Item 5.It would appear that Hiram Barnabas Ellis's 1st wife, Olivia (Linia) Ladd, died in or about
1856 and that he remarried within the year a Mrs Fedelia Eldred, her maiden name. She
had been previously married but name of 1st husband is not known. In her earlier marriage
were two children, named Lelesia, age 13 and Zeni, age 2, that came with her marriage to
Hiram Barnabas Ellis.
