During World War II he was a radio operator with the U.S. Navy in the Southwest Pacific. Following the war Jim entered Central Michigan University as a pre-med student. They purchased a small farm just east of Traverse City where Jim engaged in the mink breeding business until Russian mink flooded the market. Jim is a avid outdoor sportsman, an expert in hunting and fishing. He is now an assistant manager with the Chef Pierre Corporation in the frozen food industry.
