Ancestry.com > 1850 United States Federal Census, Town of Macomb, County of Macomb, State of Michigan, on August 28, 1850. This shows Dur Giddings, age 29, farmer, born in N.Y.; Harriet [Knifen] Giddings, age 24, born in Michigan and Naomi Giddings, age 1 yr, born in Michigan.

On visit to Prestonville Cemetery, on June 30, 1991, located a flat grave stone marker for Dur Giddings. This marker similar in thickness to that of George Reed Giddings, but laying flat on the ground partially covered with sand. There was also a small marker for a Watson Giddings at the far end of same lot. The location of this lot and graves is directly behind and east of Adam Clark Giddings family group. On July 11, 1991 returned to Prestonville Cemetery and further uncovered Dur Giddings stone marker using a trowel, and whisk broom and 1/2" x 31" portion of old broom handle having a 10" narrow screw driver [with handle removed] tightly imbedded in the bottom. Thus you now had what would be know as "A PROBE".
The other item of note is stone marker of Watson Giddings located in the same lot with Dur Giddings. Date of death for Watson, calculated as June 1843. Col. Ralph Giddings Query's date of death for Watson. Is this in error or did Dur have an earlier marriage? Could this be child of another Giddings family, living in area, having grave provided in Dur Giddings lot ?
