Submitter: Lois Jane Wolz, 8527 A-Titchfield CT, St Louis, Missouri, 63123-1245. Submission: AF97-122017. We have copy of photograph, Jane Ann Bickel, and are inclined to accept the name as such. Note that this individual record gives name as Mary Jane Ann Rickel a change in spelling of her family name.

CIVIL WAR RECORD:
Robert Henry Ellsworth was a farmer by trade. He served in Company C, 27th Michigan Infantry in the Civil War, enlisting 7 October 1862 at St Clair, Michigan for 3 years, age 18. Mustered 11 November 1862. Missing in action before Petersburg, Virginia, 18 June 1864. Absent, wounded, August, 1864, Discharged for disability at Detroit, Michigan, 18 June 1865. This is further noted in History of St Clair County, Michigan, Vol. 1, by William Lee Jenks.
Robert Henry Ellsworth is listed as living in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1864 in his father's probate record.
The Alpena County Clerks Record Book D, Page 161, No. 8 indicates name of mother as Mary Seaton. His death certificate also lists his mothers name as Mary Seaton and his father's name as Israel Ellsworth and also showed him as the parent of 3 children, only 1 of whom was living at the time of his death. The name of Mary Seaton needs to be further researched. We have a reference above using the name of Mary Ann Jane Rickel. Could it be that Mary Ann Jane Bickel may have married again following the death of Robert Henry Ellsworth?
His son Fred W. Ellsworth of Hubbard Lake, Michigan signed his death certificate.
Robert Ellsworth and Orange Ellsworth are reported as twins.
