Intentions of marriage given 18 December 1796 to Sarah Lee. This date is from the Vital Records of Conway, MA. There is a major conflict here. According to William ALLIS and Descendants by Horatio D. ALLIS, Joel ALLIS, son of Julius and Hannah (Dickerson) ALLIS, was born in Conway 12 February 1769. He married Sarah Lee, daughter of Ebber and Bethia (Jenkins) Lee, 4 Jan1797. She was born 3 January 1773 in Sullivan, New York and died 20 or 28 November 1820. All of their childredn were born in Sullivan, Madison County, N.Y. Either Brownson and McLean have erred or Horatio D. Allis is mistaken. Its is included here with the hope that some knowledgeable reader will assist in correcting the error. This according to Col. Harry H. Ellis, Dallas, Tx. (deceased)
